Activities Deadlines
Please review the application procedures and information about hosting a VISTA member so that you have a good understanding of what is involved in participating in this program. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this information. Ongoing
Submit your Application. You will need to submit the application which briefly describes the organization, the projects that the VISTA will be working on, and the specific role (task and activities) that VISTA will engaged in. We will review the application, contact you with any questions or concerns, and then let you know if your project is approved. April 27th. It takes time to recruit a VISTA. Early applications encouraged.
Begin Recruiting. Recruiting an appropriate person to serve as your VISTA is the most important part of the process. Once we approve the position description, the selection of the VISTA candidate is largely your responsibility. Your organization should recruit locally but we will also send you information on applicants that apply via the AmeriCorps national recruiting system if they express an interest in your position and seem reasonably qualified. Ongoing
Identify a candidate to whom you would like to offer a position and contact us so that we can review their application. Once we have reviewed the application, your placement can be given 'preliminary approval'– contingent upon the receipt of the required paperwork and final Corporation approval. May 21st
Submit paperwork. We submit all applications (for organizations and VISTA candidates) to the Corporation and notify you of the outcome (a week or so.) May 21st
VISTAs begin their service following the pre-service orientation. Pre-Service Orientation will take place at Generations Incorporated the last week of July. August - VISTAs will begin service following PSO.
