Host an AmeriCorps*VISTA, with Generations Incorporated
REQUIREMENTS
Specific details for the organizational requirements to host a
VISTA can be found in the application.
In general, the host organization is required to provide:
- A clear vision of the project you plan to implement and how
the VISTA can be most effectively utilized
- Supportive leadership from staff and host organization to ensure
that the VISTA is considered and treated as an integral part of
the organization
- One designated host organization supervisor who will provide
weekly supervision and support to the VISTA, as well as attend
2 mandatory meetings (one during orientation and one mid year)
- Adequate work space for the VISTA – including desk, phone,
fax, access to computer and office supplies
- A cash match to support the cost of the VISTA ($3,000-$4,000
depending on your budget)
- Housing assistance for VISTA in the form of $200 per month
paid directly to the VISTA’s landlord
- A monthly MBTA ‘LinkPass’ for VISTA local travel
(currently $59 per month)
No matter your organization’s size, the total cash commitment
(cash match, rent and T pass) is less than $7,500. Considering you
are getting a full time VISTA member for one full year, this is
a great price by any standard.
