GENERATIONS INCORPORATED - IN COLLABORATION WITH BOSTON PARTNERS
IN EDUCATION - RECEIVES DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION GRANT
$600,000
Award to Fund Joint Math and Literacy Project in Boston Public Schools
Boston, July 25, 2005 — Generations Incorporated is excited
to announce a recent grant award in the amount of $600,000 over
the next three years, under the Mentoring Program of the Department
of Education. The funding will help with the launch of an Experience
Corps Math and Literacy Project sponsored by Generations Incorporated
and Boston Partners in Education.
“The mentoring programs offered by Generations Incorporated
[and Boston Partners In Education] is a lifeline for thousands of
at-risk students who would otherwise be likely to drop out of school
or even be involved in crime,” said Senator Edward M. Kennedy
(D-Mass), member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor &
Pensions Committees in a recent press release. “The attention,
guidance, and support they find in a mentor can make all the difference
in their lives. For countless students, mentors mean greatly improved
academic achievement, better social relationships, and priceless
opportunities for a brighter future.”
