Be the Bridge.
HISTORY
In 1994, President Bill Clinton signed into legislation a national
service movement called AmeriCorps. During that inaugural year,
Generations Incorporated was selected as one of 1,000 organizations
to receive AmeriCorps members across the country. Over the past
twelve years, 205 AmeriCorps members have given 295,736 hours of
service to helping bridge the gap between older adults and youth
through innovative literacy and mentoring programs. Our AmeriCorps
program has been an integral part of our growth as an organization,
providing volunteer support, developing community relationships,
and increasing the number of children who receive literacy tutoring.
Generations Incorporated AmeriCorps Alumni have pursued careers
in the non-profit field, medicine, business, education, social work,
and the arts.
